SA: Man charged after rampage through petrol station

ADELAIDE, Dec 17 AAP - A man who tried to run down three people as he smashed intotwo petrol bowsers and crashed into an Adelaide service station, has been charged withthree counts of attempted murder.

Adelaide police said the man also had been charged with three counts of acts to endangerlife over the incident at the Mobil outlet on Victoria Road at Largs Bay.

At 12.30am (CDT) today a 39-year-old man sideswiped a car on Victoria Road, beforedriving his car into the outlet, just missing three people, they said.

He then smashed his car into two petrol pumps and then the service station buildingcausing extensive damage.

The man fled the scene but was arrested a short distance away by a dog squad patrol.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a medical assessment and could appearin court later today.

Police said it was not known if the people in the service station were know to him.
